A seasoned China hand, Kronick has been part of Ogilvy for close to 30 years. His regional undertaking began almost a year ago, at which time he sent a memo to staff stating his goal as to be “the smallest person among all of you”, quoting his agency’s founder: “If each of us hire people who are smaller than we are, we will become a company of dwarfs. But if each of us hires people bigger than we are, we shall become a company of giants.” Three things spur him as a leader: a desire to do the best possible for clients; to innovate and resist complacency; and to define the future by “making it happen”. “I have always believed we have to be the change we want to see,” he says. “If we have an idea, we must demonstrate it. If we want to develop a new product, no one is going to do it for us but us.”
